Why 3D printed covers fail: the material science

1. Layer lines are weak points

A 3D-printed part is built up in thin layers. The bond between layers is the weakest direction of the part — a printed cover can be split along its layer lines with a screwdriver or even snapped by hand. Injection-moulded plastic is stronger than printed plastic, but even that is not a lock.

2. Singapore heat softens and warps plastic
